Randy Jackson is making news for the second time this week after he was dropped as Mariah Carey’s manager.
Now he is leaving “American Idol.” Jackson, who has served as judge on the Fox singing competition since the show’s first season announced Thursday he won’t be back for a 13th season.
Randy says “Idol” has been a life-changing opportunity but he’s now looking forward to focusing on his company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures. The statement comes on the heels of a report from “The Wrap” that suggested all four “American Idol” judges would be facing the firing squad.
The fate on the show’s other current judges - Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban - is still unknown.
Jackson is the only original judge remaining from “Idol’s” first season. The original panel also included Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul.
